THE BEAUTIFUL CALIFORNIA COAST!

Hey all!

I’m on a plane today, 30,000 feet in the air, flying home from a swing of shows in Utah and California. In California, I drove up the Pacific Coast Highway to Big Sur to put some finishing touches on the new video. Have you been there? I stood looking out at the Pacific in wonder at how big the world feels and how much more I’ve yet to see. I’ll never get to it all. On the way to the airport, I stopped for coffee and accidentally bumped into a couple of friends at a little coffee shop in Los Angeles. We all stood laughing at how the world could be so small. A stranger came up to us and asked me for a selfie and said my song “The World Ain’t Slowin’ Down” had saved his life. What a strange trip I’m on.

And that’s the large and small of it. It keeps spinning, and as long as we are on it, we may as well raise a glass, spread love, wisdom, music.

Lots of news around the release! The first official album release show is in Boston at City Winery on June 8th! C’mon out! The CD and the suitcases are with me at all the shows.

The Storyteller’s Suitcase is also available now HERE in my website store but will officially hit the rest of the world (i-tunes, Spotify, Amazon, etc) on May 31st. The team of people whom I’ve assembled to help promote it are busy getting it out to radio and press. I’m scurrying for ways to get it into the hands of people that need it! That’s you! That’s why I’m writing!

You can buy the digital download, the hardcover CD, or the deluxe suitcase package in the STORE.

I hope you do, it’s the best project I’ve ever created. I hope you’ll share it with friends and family and be engaged in the music like it’s a new discovery for you. Remember when you discovered a band or an artist, and their music lived with you for an era of your life that became defined by their album? I hope this hits you like that. There’s no guarantee of course. It’s an album for grown-ups really, people with family, history, who care about where we are going. It’s harder to hit grown-ups with music in the same way we were hit by music in our teens and twenties. But maybe you’re ready to be cracked open.

I made a vow to take the helm on producing the recording myself, to be in charge of the song choices, instrumentation, players, the videos, the artwork. I found an engineer who was patient and detail orientated, Mark Dann in Woodstock, NY, who could fill in gaps as a musician when called upon. We took our time. Five years between album projects. I think it’s the reason it’s resonating so differently. And the songs are simply about things I care about, days from my life. Story songs.

The first video, “I Ain’t No Jesus”, is already out! It featured Laurie MacAllister on vocals. You can view it on YouTube by clicking HERE.

The second video, “Kiss Me ‘Cause I’m Gone”, is premiering this upcoming Friday, May 17 on the Bluegrass Situation. I will be on Facebook live at 7pm EST on Friday May 17 to celebrate the video premiere and sing a few songs. I hope you'll join me!

Also on Friday, May 17 you can tune into Jimmy Pardo’s Never Not Funny podcast, where I am his special guest and sing a few songs from the album. Jimmy’s been a big supporter of my music for years. Click HERE to listen!
