Songwriting Workshop for Students
In his creative and fun 3-hour songwriting workshop, Ellis takes his students from inspired free form writing into thoughtful visual crafting then ending with the deliberate, methodical editing of the song idea.
Using exercises in free writing, sensory imagery, and haiku and utilizing his Incredible Editing Wheel, the students in attendance will better understand the importance of the mission of their songs, their audience and the songs intention.
When the mission of the song is defined, making changes and editing the becomes a much easier process. The writing doesn’t get bogged down by imaginary walls that can often leave a song half finished or stuck in a clunky first draft.
