The Dragonfly Races

^ The Dragonfly Races

I bought a ticket
to the Dragonfly Races
out where the forest meets the meadow
The twinkling lighting bugs
threw light upon our faces
the crickets chirped,
the bullfrogs bellowed

[chorus]
Beneath the moon,
before the sun
that's when the Dragonfly Race is run
The winner gets a ribbon for a prize
Across the creek,
through the hollow,
you've gotta fly like there's no tomorrow
There ain't no way to lose
but if you don't try,
it'll pass you by
It's the Race of the Dragonflies

Dusty the dragonfly
was lazy as a moonbeam
He took his naps in a bed of flowers
His friends just needed one more man
to make a full team
They begged and pleaded him for hours

The Great Horned Owl
cried out,
"Dragonflies! Get ready!
Get set! " He shouted,
then his great horn did blow
Dusty, he started last
but his wings flew sure and steady
he passed his friends at the creek
They shouted, "Go Dusty! Go!"

Beneath the moon,
before the sun
that's when the Dragonfly Race is run
The winner gets a ribbon for a prize
Across the creek,
through the hollow,
you've gotta fly like there's no tomorrow
There ain't no way to lose
but you gotta try
and Dusty tried
He won the Race of the Dragonflies ^
