Boston folk legend, Ellis Paul to play special concert

You may know Ellis Paul as the man behind “The World Ain't Slowing Down”—the theme song for Me, Myself and Irene, or as one of the more celebrated Boston musicians of all time—the guy has won an unprecedented fourteen Boston Music Awards, or maybe you haven’t yet heard of Ellis Paul, and if that’s the case, this observer writes in the hope that that will soon change.
I spoke with Mr. Paul as he was driving back from the 30A Songwriters Festival that takes place along the Gulf of Mexico, just one stop in a continuously prolific tour that includes between 150 and 200 dates per year. With such dedication it’s no wonder the troubadour has accumulated such a loyal and expansive fanbase—the songwriter's latest album was completely crowdfunded by the his fans. Paul is making his way back to New England to prepare for a special show at the River Club Music Hall where he will preview a significant portion of that album. When asked how this album is distinct amongst his previous 20+ releases (have I mentioned the word ‘prolific’ yet?), he explained that it features a signature band sound; all the musicians play on every track and that consistency helps give the album a cohesive, unified sound. Moreover, it’s bolstered by both the musicianship and production talents of Kristian Bush, half of the Grammy-winning country duo known as Sugarland. Paul claims that Bush’s broad taste in music, diverse reference points, and love for Bruce Springsteen make this upcoming release an excitingly authentic folk album. The country star’s inclusion in this project also undoubtedly increases single potential for some of the tracks, so don’t be surprised to hear the mellow, poignant musings of Ellis Paul on the radio in the near future.
