Apr 26 2011 - Ellis Paul April 2011 Newsletter

Hey everyone,
Spring is settling in here in Virginia. I've been busy touring and prepping songs on the upcoming kids and family cd project. Starting to write adult songs too... Lots of great stuff happening, make sure you check out the videos and if you are free in August, come join Radoslav Lorkovic (piano) on our semi-annual retreat at a Vermont historical inn. Should be fun! See you out there!

Roy Orbison’s 75th Birthday
April 23rd was the 75th Anniversary of the birth of Roy Orbison, one of our beloved American songwriting legends who has influenced the music and lives of performers and fans around the globe.  Ellis was asked to pay special tribute to Roy and his 75th Birthday Global Celebration.  Here you can see Ellis' version of "Crying", filmed at the Roy Orbison studios in Nashville.

Los Angeles on a Tuesday
On Tuesday, May 24th, Ellis Paul will be performing a very special show in Los Angeles. This show is in partnership with our friends at Sorted Noise, the producers of Ellis' latest CD, "The Day After Everything Changed".  This is a rare weekday show, which will be held at The Hotel Café in LA, and we hope to see a great turnout from our West Coast friends!

The Ellis Paul Road Show Carnival
We are pleased to announce an added bonus for EP fans - Ellis is shooting video from the road, and we’ll be posting new Video Blogs (vlogs) on his website and YouTube channel.  “The Ellis Paul Road Show Carnival” is going to be a chance for fans to travel with Ellis on the road, as he gives an inside look at what takes place on his weekly road journeys.  The first video entry is available now.  [GIANT DISCLAIMER:  This video is Ellis’ first shot at camera work, so we, right along with you, look forward to a much more experienced (and steady!) camera hand as the series continues.  We thank you in advance for your patience as EP learns the ropes of videography!]  Check out the introductory vlog here, and be sure to check back often for updates!

“On Again Off Again” with Susan Cattaneo
Recently Ellis performed a duet with singer-songwriter Susan Cattaneo, joining forces on a piece entitled “On Again Off Again” on her new album, “Heaven to Heartache”.  Take a listen to the song on Susan’s ‘Bandcamp’ site here, and read more about Susan at her website, www.susancattaneo.com/.

This Weekend in Georgia
This weekend, Ellis will be at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, Georgia for THREE shows (two adult and one family show).  On Friday, April 29th, shows are at 7pm and 10pm with special guest Flynn along for the ride.  Details are available on Ellis’ tour calendar.  Also, while down in Atlanta, Ellis will be a return guest in Jimmy Pardo’s “Never Not Funny” comedy podcast, which is available here.

See y'all down the road!
