Ellis Paul's Roy Orbison 75th birthday video tribute!

Postby KarenZ » Thu Mar 10, 2011 7:35 pm

Folks,

Image
Tomorrow Ellis Paul is going to Nashville to meet with Roy Orbison's wife, Barbara, who is a big EP fan.

Roy's upcoming 75th birthday is April 23rd and, to honor Roy, the Roy Orbison Production team is preparing a video tribute and have invited Ellis to participate.

Besides Elliis, other artists who are Roy fans will submit video tributes which will be compiled into a video montage. Just a few of the artists to be included are: Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Norah Jones, Rod StewarT, KD Lang and Gene Simmons.

Ellis' cover of Roy's song, 'Crying' is planned to be the audio track for the video montage which will potentially be seen in the Hard Rock Cafes worldwide.

The video will also be put up on Roy's Facebook (over 150,000 fans), as well as on his website.

There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

according to ellis, it was the line about roy in jukebox on my grave that brought his music to the attention of the orbison camp.

in addition to the t-shirt in the picture about he is also the proud owner of roy orbison sunglasses.

For the inquiring minds who have asked, Ellis' video was recorded for the video montage annnounced previously. The montage is still forthcoming from the Roy Orbison camp. 8) I suspect we will see it on/around Roy's birthday - April 23.
