I think this sounds like an awesome idea and I hate that I'm gonna miss y'all by a few weeks! I come home to MA every year around the 4th of July so when you're planning the 2009 gathering, please see if that works for ya! I would love to meet you all, especially under such ideal circumstances!! :D

Ellen - book your ticket now! Of course we will all be there for support - it's going to be great fun and we'll be one big happy family aboard the boat.

Look forward to meeting you.

Jela

PS had an email from Lyn this week and it looks as if she's going to make it too - this party is just getting bigger and bigger!!!! Wonderful.

Ellen,
This is one big welcoming community of good souls. In person, Karen is a saint, (I know her well!). Becky and Jela and Richard are as kind as can be and lots of fun; Monica R is always laughing and Patti is a sweetheart. Susan and Bonnie and Lyn are smiling kindred spirits with big hearts. Paddy I will meet then! Jimmy P is bringing the wine slushy machine.
I am also bringing a couple more friends.
So feel welcome....we'll all mingle and make sure you feel part of a great community; we'll have to find a way for you to let someone know where and who you are. Super folks to be around.

A busy Santa Claus, but hey everyone ! Have missed you all - too many things going on in the outside world right now. But I think August 15 would be a wonderful chance to catch up ! Not to mention hear some good music, have an adult beverage or two, and watch people debate whether or not they need another Dramamine.....

See you there!!!

Less than a month away now! Can we add any other names to our list of attendees? :D

BTW folks,

Dinner is not available on board but there are several restaurants in the area. Legal Seafoods, a big favorite of visitors to Boston, is right on Long Wharf. Faneuil Hall is across the street basically and there are many good food court options there.

Boarding is at 7:30pm for the 8pm show. Pre-board party on Long Wharf at 6pm. Not sure what the pre-board party consists of. If anyone has attended one in the past, let us know! :)

Hi all,
I'll see what I can find out about the pre-board stuff and places to eat. If there's time, might some folks wish to meet for dinner before hand? Depending on when we each get out of work that day, my friend and I may be able to join.
I will pack extra Dramamine in my bag for whoever might need it! Maybe I'll be wearing green so I match my skin tone, though maybe it will all be smooooooth that day....ha-ha.
Can't wait to see everyone, and Paddy, I'm glad we'll get to meet in person!

Howdy All-

I haven't been on for a while...so sorry about that.

I read your quote Karen, about needing two wine slushy machines now that Bonnie and I are on board...wilst I do love a frosty beverage...not a wine drinker, so you can go back to only one. :D I want a slushy MARGARITA! or a Guinness...I'm not too picky!

I think Bonnie better start keeping two more "lists". One list for those who will be in line for the slushies.....and one list for those who will be doing a Bewleys.

Welcome, alsparky! Looking forward to meeting youa nd saying hello! :)

If there are any other lurkers out there who plan to be on the Boston Harbor cruise, please do consider chiming in here to let us know. And all you regulars, don't forget to dig out those lapel pins! I'll bring a fresh supply for those that may have been missplaced. ;)

Let's go one step further and all agree to wear the favored attire of EP Devotees.... black pants and a white top. Dean, just lose the jacket from that New Year's Eve tux and you'll be all set! :D

I wish I was coming to the Boston gathering, but alas, I have to wait til Vermont. Lose the jacket but keep the dicky-bow (as Flynn says)? I hope you all have a great time at the Boston show. Looking forward to those awesome show reports.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I was on the boards a while back, but life has been busy since my little one arrived. She takes up lots of time, but I love every minute of it. We listen to lots of The Dragonfly Races. We even took her to Wareham to see Ellis last weekend. I'm teaching her to be a groupie early! ;-)

Hi Paddy, As far as I've heard, it's a one time thing for the cruise...Matt Hebert's band, and they are great (as well as good friends of Ellis's). No Don Con or Rad for this one.

Tomorrow I will probably be able to get the names of some restaurants near the cruise departure site for folks who have time to meet prior (and I hope I can be one of them!!), which I'll post then.

Now, the next question is whether the clothing karma genie will dress any of us alike, as seems to happen to me lately at Ellis shows with my friends!

Folks,

Only one week to go! 8)

Jela, I have a suspicion that you and Richard will be heading to Boston on Monday.....so let's all plan to meet on the wharf around 5 or 5:30pm the night of the show. According to the rock and blues website, boarding is at 7:30pm, so that should give us plenty of time for dinner beforehand. MonicaM is scoping out a place for us. :)

Safe travels everyone! :D

Also, extended 10 day weather forecast: http://www.weather.com/outlook/events/s ... nav_sports

Some people have told me it's a little cooler out on the water too in the evening. You never know around here. We've also been stuck in this thunderstormy pattern for the past couple of weeks, but it looks good fro Friday in terms of the weather if that's accurate.

I'll narrow it down to a couple and see what quick responders think, then make reservations for whoever thinks they can come.

It is a kind of talent in itself, to be an audience, whether you are the spectator in the gallery or you are listening to the voice of the world's greatest soprano. Not everyone can be the artist. There have to be those who witness the art, who love and appreciate what they have been privileged to see." -- Ann Patchett in Bel Canto.

Okay:
I've scoped out some of the zillions of area restaurants and I realize that with every restaurant review list, there are opinions on either end. I've avoided the ones that seemed to have persistently long waits and also ones that seemed like they were a couple blocks away, just to keep it simple and very, very local to the wharf.

So, depending on what folks want to pay for entrees (remembering that this IS Boston), I would suggest one of 3 choices, all in apparent very close range to where the boat shoves off of Long Wharf. If there is a preference, if parties could please present an opinion by Tues or Wed, and if I could get an approximate head count (won't hold ya to it!), then I'll make reservations ASAP after that. If no opinions, I'll make reservations at Legal Seafoods, which is close and seems to be a Boston tradition.

Choices:
Legal Sea Foods....entrees between $15 to $29; seafood and other.

Black Rose Pub....entrees around $15; Irish pub, pub fare, fried and meaty things.

Oceana at Marriot (hotel restaurant) with nice views; Seafood and mixed fare...entrees $17 to 28.

Thanks!

I, unfortunately, am not going to be able to make it Friday after all.

One of my brother's, who I have not seen in 10 years, is coming home to celebrate his 50th b-day, so it looks like I'm throwing a party on Saturday. Thought I might do the cruise and deal with all the party stuff early Sat. a.m. but the more I thought about that, I decided I should probably do the right thing and spend time with my bro and get ready for the party.

Have a great time and raise a glass/take a Dramamine for me!
